Animals & Mobs
Last updated July 19, 2026
There are all sorts of animals that live in the Overworld, from completely passive mobs that wander around aimlessly to fully aggressive mobs that attack the moment they see you. A number of them can also be saddled and used as mounts.
Shellies
Shellies are the most common creature in the game, found in a variety of forms across different ore tiers, such as Stone Shelly, Crystal Shelly, and rarer variants like Pink Diamond Shelly. They drop Raw Morsel plus whatever material covers their shell.
The Stone Shelly is the weakest and most common Shelly, an easy early kill for Raw Morsel and Stone.
The Big Stone Shelly is a saddleable, higher health version of the Stone Shelly, and drops more Stone and Raw Morsel per kill.
The Giant Shelly is a saddleable, high health Shelly that drops a mix of smaller Iron, Stone, and Adurite Shellies when killed instead of raw materials.
The Coal Shelly is a step up from the Stone Shelly and drops Coal alongside Raw Morsel.
The Iron Shelly drops Raw Iron and becomes a target once you can deal a bit more damage.
The Silver Shelly drops Raw Silver, one of the few sources of a material that otherwise has no confirmed use.
The Odd Shelly breaks the usual ore pattern, dropping Obsidian and Jelly instead of a mineable material, and can be saddled like a Banto.
The Adurite Shelly drops Raw Adurite and has the same health as the Odd Shelly.
The Gold Shelly drops Raw Gold and sits in the middle of the Shelly health range.
The Crystal Shelly drops Crystal Chunk and ties with the Magnetite and Void Shelly for health.
The Magnetite Shelly drops Raw Magnetite and ties with the Crystal and Void Shelly for health.
The Void Shelly drops Void Shard and ties with the Crystal and Magnetite Shelly for health.
The Emerald Shelly drops Raw Emerald and is tougher than every Shelly besides the Pink Diamond Shelly.
The Pink Diamond Shelly is by far the toughest Shelly in the game, and can be saddled.
Shelly Spirit is a ghostly Shelly variant that drops nothing at all when killed.
Special Shellies
Shelby, Sheldon, and Shelbert are rare "mother" Shellies that don't drop raw materials directly, they drop other Shellies and resources instead when killed.
Shelby is the second toughest of the special Shellies behind Shellington, and killing it drops a mix of rarer Shellies, Pink Diamond, and Essence.
Sheldon drops a mix of Stone and Emerald Shellies alongside Raw Emerald when killed.
Shelbert respawns far faster than Shelby or Sheldon, and drops a wide mix of fruit, ore, and smaller Shellies.
Shellington is by far the toughest Shelly in the game, with a hundred times more health than Shelby, and drops a Tophat alongside Giant Shellies and Essence.
Banto & Mammoth
Banto and the various Mammoth families can be found roaming Grasslands, Icelands, and Volcanic Islands. Both can be saddled to make traveling across the map much faster once you've built a Saddle.
The Banto is a common tameable animal that can be saddled once you've built a Saddle, and drops Raw Meat and Hide when killed instead.
Bantae is a smaller Banto-family animal that can be saddled, and drops Raw Meat and Raw Morsel when killed instead.
Lil Banto is the smallest of the Banto family, saddleable like the others, and drops only Raw Meat when killed.
Rento is a lava colored Banto found in volcanic areas, and drops Fire Hide alongside Raw Meat when killed.
Rentae is a smaller lava colored Banto that drops only Raw Meat, without the Fire Hide that Rento gives.
Golden Banto is a Banto variant found on the Sky Island, and drops Coins and Raw Gold instead of the usual meat and hide.
Crystal Bantae is a Banto variant that drops Crystal Chunk instead of the usual meat and hide.
The Sand Mammoth roams Deserts and other sandy biomes, and becomes a Sand War Mammoth once saddled.
The Baby Sand Mammoth is a smaller, saddleable version of the Sand Mammoth, with much less health and a simpler Raw Meat only drop.
The Snow Mammoth roams the Icelands, and becomes a Snow War Mammoth once saddled.
The Sand War Mammoth is the saddled, rideable form of the Sand Mammoth, and hits hard if you're on foot near an unsaddled one.
The Snow War Mammoth is the saddled, rideable form of the Snow Mammoth, and hits just as hard as its Sand counterpart.
Barbarians
Barbarians spawn frozen inside Ice Chunks in the Icelands. Breaking the ice free releases the Barbarian, which immediately attacks you. It deals a fair amount of damage for an early-game enemy.
The Barbarian spawns frozen inside an Ice Chunk in the Icelands, and attacks the moment it's freed.
Antmen
There are several types of Antmen, including the common Scavenger Ant as well as Fire and Void Ants found in tougher locations. Most Antmen spawn from Ant Mounds, which are also worth breaking for their own resources.
The Scavenger Ant is the weakest and most common Antman, found wandering near Ant Mounds.
The Black Ant hits harder than the Scavenger Ant and is still an easy early fight.
The White Ant guards the Old God in the Ancient Underwater Cave, and hits about as hard as a Fire Ant.
The Fire Ant is found in tougher locations and hits about as hard as a White Ant.
The Void Ant hits harder than any other Antman except the Queen Ant, and only drops Void Shard.
The Huge Ant is the toughest regular Antman before the Queen Ant herself.
Queen Ant's Servant guards the Queen Ant herself, and hits far harder against structures than any other Antman.
See Bosses for the stronger boss-tier creatures like the Frozen Giant and Queen Ant, and Pets for tamed companions that follow you around.
Critters
Critters are the small, mostly passive wildlife that wander the map, the shores, and the water. Some can be led around or saddled as mounts, and all of them drop a bit of Raw Meat, Fish, or Morsel when killed, so weaker players often farm them for easy food and Essence.
Goobers are the weakest critter in the game at just 10 health, wandering the land in little groups. They drop a single Raw Morsel and can be led around with food.
Peepers are tiny, harmless land critters that go down in a hit or two. They drop a Raw Meat and can be led around like a pet.
Birds are quick little critters that flit around the map in blue and red variants. They are weak but fast, dropping Raw Meat and Raw Morsel when you manage to catch one.
Turtles are slow, shelled land critters. Their hard shell means you break them with a pickaxe rather than a weapon, and they drop Raw Meat along with Scute.
The Beached Boi is a fish washed up on the shore that sits in place like a resource. Breaking it gives a couple of Raw Fish.
Lurky Bois are sharks that prowl the water. With 150 health they can be dangerous to a low-level player, but they can also be saddled and ridden once tamed, becoming a Domestic Boi. They drop Raw Fish.
The Goldy Boi is a rare golden shark and the toughest critter here by far at 1,000 health. It drops a big haul of Raw Gold on top of Raw Fish and a hefty 30 Essence, and like the Lurky Boi it can be saddled and ridden.
Penguins can be found in Icelands. Penguins can be fed anything by dropping food nearby. Feeding them can complete a quest.
Crabs can only be found in the Pirate Realm during the seasonal summer event. Upon slaying the Crab, it will drop 2 Raw Crab, which can be cooked to make Cooked Crab.
Void Creatures
The Void has its own creatures beyond its bosses, from hostile mobs to passive wanderers, several with drops you will not find anywhere else, like the Soul Minion's key to the Forgotten Knight.
Soul Minions are hostile Void creatures that float around the Void and shoot Jelly Ball projectiles from range. They have 350 health, and they are the only source of the Soul Key, which drops from about one kill in twenty and is needed to summon The Forgotten Knight. They also drop Jelly and Essence.
The Void Spider is a hostile spider that skitters around the Void and bites for 40 damage. It has 300 health and drops Jelly along with Strangefruit and Oddberry.
The Jelly Banto is a translucent, jelly-textured Banto found only in the Void. Like a normal Banto it is passive and can be led around, and with 500 health it drops a hefty 10 Jelly when killed.
The Uber Goober is a much larger, tougher Goober found in the Void. At 175 health it is far beefier than the 10-health overworld Goober, and it drops Strangefruit and Oddberry.
The Void Boi is a Lurky Boi but for the Void. It has a leap attack and is severely stronger than the original Lurky Boi counterpart.
Trivia
Shellington has 500,000 health, a hundred times more than Shelby, making it by far the tankiest Shelly of any kind.
Sand Mammoth and Snow Mammoth turn into their War Mammoth forms once saddled, rather than War Mammoths being a separate wild creature.
Crystal, Magnetite, and Void Shelly all share the exact same health (200), despite dropping very different materials.
The Odd Shelly is the only ore-tier Shelly that doesn't drop a mineable material, dropping Obsidian and Jelly instead.
