Resources & Ores
Last updated July 14, 2026
Resources are the basic materials behind almost every recipe in the game, from naturally spawned resources like Wood and Stone to ores you dig up, which need to be smelted before you can use them.
Basic Resources
Log drops alongside Wood from Small Trees, and it's used in almost as many early recipes as Wood itself.
Leaves also drop from Small Trees and Bushes alongside Wood and Log, and show up in a wide range of early crafting recipes.
Wood is gathered by chopping down Small Trees, and it's needed for almost every early recipe in the game.
Stone can be mined from Stone Nodes and is used as the base for many of the early tools, armors, and structures.
Coal is mined from Coal Nodes and is the only resource with zero weight, so it never takes up bag space.
Smeltable Ores
Most ores are processed at a Campfire to create bars for crafting. Smelt time scales roughly with rarity - Iron and Gold are fastest, Adurite sits in the middle, and Magnetite, Emerald, and Pink Diamond all take the longest at around three and a half minutes per bar.
Iron is smelted from Raw Iron at a Campfire, taking about a minute per bar.

Gold is smelted from Raw Gold, and it doubles as currency once you build a Coin Press.

Adurite is smelted from Raw Adurite, taking about two minutes per bar. Raw Adurite doesn't only come from the Adurite Node, it also drops from Adurite Rock (3 Raw Adurite per rock) and Adurite Rich Rock (1 Raw Adurite per rock).

Magnetite is one of the slowest ores to smelt, taking over three minutes per bar. Magnetite can also be found in Magnetite Meteors, a rarer event where 2 Magnetite Shelly, 1 Meteor Core, 3 Meteor Rock, and 3 Small Rock spawn together. Clearing all of them gives 8 Raw Magnetite in total: 2 from the Shellies, 3 from the Meteor Core, and 3 from the Meteor Rocks.

Emerald is one of the slowest ores to smelt, taking over three minutes per bar, just like Magnetite and Pink Diamond.

Pink Diamond takes just as long to smelt as Emerald and Magnetite, despite being one of the rarest materials in the game.
Special Materials
Crystal Chunk and Obsidian skip the smelting step entirely and go straight from the node into your recipes, while Steel takes an extra crafting step before it can be smelted at all.
Crystal Chunk doesn't need to be smelted at all, it's mined from the Crystal Lode and used directly in recipes. Crystal Chunk can also be found in Crystal Meteors, a rarer event where 2 Crystal Shelly, 1 Crystal Meteor Core, 3 Crystal Meteor Rock, and 3 Small Rock spawn together. Clearing all of them gives 9 Crystal Chunk in total: 2 from the Shellies, 4 from the Meteor Core, and 3 from the Meteor Rocks.

Obsidian doesn't need to be smelted either, and the Obsidian Boulder drops a large amount of it per hit. Both the Obsidian Deposit and the Obsidian Boulder are only found in the Void, dropping 3 and 12 Obsidian per node respectively.

Steel isn't mined directly, it's crafted from Raw Iron and Coal into Steel Mix first, then smelted into Steel.
Weight & bag space
All resources have a weight. Coal has a weight of 0, so it doesn't take up any space in your bag and can be picked up even with a full bag. Magnetite, Emerald, and Pink Diamond are the heaviest and will use up your carrying capacity quickly.
Gold & Coins
Gold doubles as currency once you build a Coin Press, which converts 1 Gold Bar into 5 Coins. It's one of the best early resources to stockpile since Coins are needed for almost everything in the Store.
Other Materials
A few extra materials used in crafting and events that are not ores or basic resources.
| Material | Weight | How to get |
|---|---|---|
| Void Shard | 2 | Dropped by the Gods in The Void; used to craft Void gear. |
| Void Essence | 0 | A material found in The Void. |
| Rope | 0.5 | Crafted from 4 Vine (makes 2) at level 16; used to make a Lead. |
| Vine | 0.125 | Gathered in the world and crafted into Rope. |
| Sand | 0.2 | Dug up on beaches; smelts into Glass. |
| Glass | 0.5 | Smelted from Sand. |
| Scute | 0.5 | Dropped by Turtles. |
Trivia
Magnetite, Emerald, and Pink Diamond all take the same 200 seconds to smelt into a bar, the longest of any resource in the game.
Crystal Chunk and Obsidian are the only two mined resources that never need to be smelted at all.
Steel is the only material in this list that isn't mined directly - it starts as Raw Iron and Coal crafted into Steel Mix before it can even be smelted.
